Old Dominion University Police Department mission:
The primary purpose of the Old Dominion University Police Department is to support the university mission through maintenance of a safe and secure environment and through provision of needed general and emergency services.
We fulfill the accomplishment of this purpose through constant attention to public safety, security, law enforcement, crime assistance to the diverse multicultural constituency contained within the university community and the departmentís concurrent jurisdiction in the City of Norfolk.
In fulfilling the responsibilities associated with its purpose for existence, the department recognizes the overall academic mission of the university and strives to play a vital role in that mission. Concern for community well being, a desire to provide service and assistance whenever possible, and support for the academic environment are all factors that are inherent in the departmentís daily operations and policies.
With the mission in mind, ODU PD has put into place a campus security survey, to gather input on exactly how safe you the student, faculty & staff feel, while on campus. And most important of all how we can make the campus and surrounding area safer.  Complete the survey and return it to rcross@odu.edu.
